The vision of First 5 FUNdamentals is:
“All Pierce County children start school ready to succeed!”
The mission of First 5 FUNdamentals is:
“Build and sustain an integrated early learning system of community partners and organizations to support our young children and their families.”
The goals of our early learning system are:
  • Every child will receive quality care and be engaged in age and developmentally appropriate learning.
  • All types of care will improve: care provided by parents, friends, neighbors, family members, child care centers, in-home options, pre-schools, kindergarten, and state and federal early childhood developmental programs.
  • The system will be sustainable through a mix of private and public funding and will be supported by upper-level organizational and institutional leadership guaranteeing long-term increased quality and capacity.
  • Pierce County leaders will have an increased awareness of the importance of early childhood development and will support Partnership efforts, bringing more resources to the community to create and sustain the system.
  • Children will show improved performance when they begin kindergarten, increasing their chances of success in school and life.
